Eduroam in Windows Vista/Windows 7 - how-to

 


  • Right-click the network icon on the toolbar near the clock.
  • Select the Network and Sharing Center

  •  Click Manage Wireless Networks

  •  Click Add.

  •  Select Manually create a network profile.

  • Fill the boxes as described below :
    • Network name: eduroam
    • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption type: AES
    • Select Start this connection automatically and Connect even if the network is not broadcasting.
  • Click Next.
 
   

 

  • You will need to change some of the settings that Vista sets as default.
    • Click on Change connection settings

  • Click in the Security tab
  • Click on Settings... as shown in the picture

  • Unselect Validate server certificate
  • Click Configure

  • Untick the available box and click OK in all the boxes that where left open.

  • When asked for the credentials, type your username and password.

Note: The user must be in the form: [username]@itqb.unl.pt

  • Click OK to connect to the eduroam network
